INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS FOR UNDERGRAD STUDENTS ARE CHANGING FROM 12 TO 15 CREDIT HOURS STARTING FALL 2014

 

Scholarship Opportunities at the University of North Texas at Dallas

Many of the scholarships that are awarded at the University of North Texas at Dallas are based off the student’s application for admission. Freshman must be fully admitted by March 1 for the fall term to be considered for scholarships. Transfer students must be fully admitted by May 16th for the fall term based on the availability of funds. Unless noted, there is no application needed in order to receive the scholarship.

Scholarships Available to Freshman

Board of Regents Scholarships
In order to be considered for the Board of Regents scholarships, the student must be in the top 10% of their class and enrolled full time. The scholarship is available for a total of four academic years (fall/spring terms) and the student must complete 15 hours of enrollment each semester and maintain a 3.25 GPA in order for the scholarship to renew. There are four different tiers for this scholarship based on the students SAT/ACT scores.

Board of Regents - $5,000  1400 SAT/32 ACT

Board of Regents - $4,000 1300 SAT/29 ACT

Board of Regents Chancellor's - $2,000 1250 SAT/28 ACT

Board of Regents President's - $1,500 1200 SAT/27 ACT

Jaguar Cornerstone Scholar
 

Students are awarded this scholarship yearly based on information from when the student filled out the FAFSA. A student must continue to remain Pell eligible in order to maintain eligibility in this program. Students must enroll in at least 15 credit hours and have a 2.5 GPA or better at the end of each semester, and meet SAP requirements. The scholarship is available for a maximum of four years (fall/spring semester). Students are awarded a minimum of $1,000 and a maximum of $5,000.

Achievement Scholarship
 

This scholarship requires that the student have been within the top 50% of their class and received a 950 on their SAT or 20 on their ACT, or the top 50% of their class and have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. The student must be enrolled full time in order to receive this scholarship. Students are awarded up to $4,000 for the academic year (fall/spring semester) based on their EFC from their FAFSA/TASFA. A student  can receive up to $12,000 in grant and scholarship funds. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, be enrolled for 15 credit hours, and meet SAP to continue to receive the scholarship. The scholarship is available to the student for a total of 8 semesters (fall/spring).

AT&T Early College High School Scholarship
 

In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must have graduated from high school as an Early College High School graduate. The amount of the scholarship depends on the ranking of the student in their class. They must have been in at least the top 50% to be eligible for this scholarship. The minimum award for this scholarship is $3,000. The scholarship is available to students for two academic years (fall/spring). In order to retain eligibility for this scholarship the student must be enrolled in 15 hours of course work, maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and meet SAP requirements.

Ryan "Leaders of Tomorrow" Scholarship (application required)

Awarded to entering freshman enrolled full time. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Additional criteria that must be met will be on the application. Applications will be available March 1, 2014 - May 30, 2014.

Scholarships Available to Transfer Students

Complete the Dream Scholarship
 

This scholarship is awarded to transfer students that have a 2.7 GPA. Students must be a United States citizen or permanent resident, or meet the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 1528. Students are awarded up to $3,500 per academic year (fall/spring) based on their EFC from the FAFSA. Up to $10,000 can potentially be received by the student in grant and scholarship funds. The student must be enrolled in 15 credit hours, maintain a 2.7 cumulative GPA, and meet SAP requirements. This scholarship is available for a total of four semesters (fall/spring).

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (must submit PTK certificate or membership card)

This scholarship is awarded to students that transfer, and are a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Students must be enrolled in 15 credit hours, and are awarded $1,000 per academic year (fall/spring). In order to continue to be eligible for this scholarship the student must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and meet SAP requirements. This scholarship is available for a total of four semesters (fall/spring).

General Academic Scholarship (continuing students only need an application)

This scholarship is awarded to transfer students who have a 2.25 cumulative GPA. Students must be enrolled for 15 credit hours, and are awarded up to $2,000 for the academic year (fall/spring) based on their EFC from the FAFSA/TASFA. Up to $10,000 can be received in grant and scholarship funds. In order to continue to be eligible for this scholarship, the student must maintain a 2.25 cumulative GPA, and meet SAP requirements. This scholarship is available for a total of four semesters (fall/spring). Application deadline for continuing students is May 16th of each year.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Jaguar Dreams Realized Scholarship (application required)

Awarded to Junior's for their Senior year. Must be enrolled full-time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Additional criteria that must be met will be on the scholarship application. The deadline to apply is May 30, 2014.

Remarcus L. West Memorial Scholarship (application required)

Awarded to a student that has attended at least one semester at UNT Dallas and has a minimum 2.25 GPA. Additional criteria that must be met will be on the scholarship application. Applications must be returned by May 30, 2014.

Lyman and Eloise Owen Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students that are attending the University of North Texas at Dallas, and have completed at least one semester successfully. This scholarship is available to both full and part-time students. Students must have a minimum of a 2.25 cumulative GPA to be eligible. To be eligible for the scholarship to be renewed the student must be meeting all SAP requirements. 

 

Graduate Scholarships

Development of Leaders Scholarship
 

This scholarship is awarded to new graduate students that have a 3.0 GPA on their last 60 undergraduate hours of work, or an overall 2.8 GPA. The student must also meet all the requirements for admission to the cohort which include having two years of teaching experience (K-12) prior to program enrollment. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required for admission to this program. To continue to receive this scholarship, the student must be enrolled in 6 credit hours, and maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA. This scholarship is available for four semesters (fall/spring).

Business Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship
 

This scholarship is awarded to new graduate students that have applied and been accepted into the MBA program. The student must have a strong academic profile, including but not limited to GMAT score, work experience, MBA application essay, undergraduate and graduate GPA if applicable. Students must be enrolled in 6 credit hours, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, and meet SAP requirements.

Counseling Scholarship
 

This scholarship is awarded to new graduate students that have applied and been accepted into the M. Ed. in Counseling program. The student must have a strong academic profile, including but not limited to GRE score, work experience, writing sample, undergraduate and graduate GPA if applicable. Student must be enrolled in 6 credit hours, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, and meet SAP requirements. This scholarship is available for four semesters (fall/spring).

Graduate General Academic Scholarship (application required)

This scholarship is awarded to continuing graduate students that are not currently receiving any other institutional scholarship. The student must have completed 6 or more master's level or approved undergraduate equivalent credit hours at UNT Dallas with a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA. This scholarship is available for two years, and students are awarded $1,000 for the academic year. Students must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA, enroll in 6 credit hours, and meet SAP requirements after each semester to remain eligible. This scholarship is available for four semesters (fall/spring).

Application deadline for continuing students is May 16th of each year.
