What is JAMP?
The Joint Admission Medical Program, JAMP, is a special program that provides a pathway for highly qualified, economically
disadvantaged students to pursue a medical education. It represents a partnership
between 13 medical schools and a growing list of public and private four-year undergraduate
institutions in Texas.
What does JAMP provide?
- Scholarships to complete undergraduate degree program
- Summer internship experiences
- Opportunities to gain hands-on experience in clinical settings
- Comprehensive MCAT preparation program
- Dedicated mentoring program for personal and professional development
- Guaranteed admission to a participating Texas medical school
- Scholarships to attend medical school
Am I eligible to apply?
- Apply to college and enroll for the fall semester immediately following graduation from a secondary
program
- Take the SAT and/or ACT and earn a score on one or both exams not less than the mean for the State of Texas
- Apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have an Expected
Family Contribution (EFC) up to 8000
- Complete at least 27 hours of undergraduate credit, including General Chemistry I and II with laboratory sequence
- Earn a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher and 3.25 BCPM GPA or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math courses
- Meet with the JAMP Faculty Director prior to beginning your application for admission
- Apply to JAMP during the associated application period for your entry year
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and Texas Resident at the time of your application
When do I apply?
- Early Admission: If you earned at least 27 hours of undergraduate credit during your final year in
a high school or home school program, including two semesters of General Chemistry
with associated labs, you are eligible to submit an application for admission during
the fall semester immediately following graduation from your secondary program.
- Regular Admission: After completing at least 27 hours of undergraduate credit during your first year
of college, including two semesters of General Chemistry with associated labs, you
are eligible to submit an application for admission in the fall semester of your second
year of college.
Application Period
The application for Entry Year 2023 opens on May 2, 2022, at 8:00 AM and closes on
September 30, 2022, at 5:00 PM. You can access the application on the Texas JAMP website.
