The Emerging Teacher Institute at the University of North Texas at Dallas co-hosted the “1Million Changemakers: Changemaking from the Inside-Out” event recently at the Trinity Audubon Center.

With the help of one of the world’s most prominent social venture and entrepreneurship firms, the Ashoka Changemakers, the event brought educators together from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a day of powerful leadership enhancement.

“What we wanted to do today was to create a summit, an event, an encounter and an offering where educators can come together and have really powerful conversations,” said the Dean of the School of Education for UNT Dallas, Dr. John Gasko.

Throughout the event, the Changemakers’ three-step process of framing, convening and igniting, made such a lasting impression, but importantly, brought forth a renewed enthusiasm for those in attendance.

“What’s been unexpected is people coming up to me and saying thank you for acknowledging this sort of turbulence on our journey that we’re all experiencing,” added Gasko, who also the founder of the Emerging Teacher Institute. “Today has been just an amazing day for everyone involved. I’m just extremely happy everything came together the way it did.”
