Chancellor Lesa Roe Meets with UNT Dallas Students

UNT Dallas was proud to welcome UNT System Chancellor Lesa Roe to campus October 13, 2017. During her visit, Chancellor Roe had the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, students, and community members from whom she heard firsthand how UNT Dallas is actively striving to be a pathway to social mobility.

UNT Dallas students particularly enjoyed the Chancellor’s visit, taking note of her sincere interest in their studies, and career goals.

"Chancellor Roe was a delight to meet,” said Alejandra Villanueva, a senior and Presidential Jaguar Scholar. “As young female professional, I feel extremely proud to have our first female chancellor. I could tell right away that she embodied what a great leader is by the way she took initiative to get to know us. I am excited to have Chancellor Roe join us as a Trailblazer and be able to work alongside her to continue to grow the university."

Chancellor Roe officially began her role as chancellor October 9, 2017, following an illustrious career as the Acting Deputy Administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Her many honors include: 2017 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics AIAA Fellow, the 2015 Senior Executive Service Presidential Distinguished Rank Award and the 2006 Presidential Meritorious Executive Rank Award; NASA Exceptional Service Medal; University of Florida’s Distinguished Career Achievement and Outstanding Leadership in Engineering Awards; the 2010 Women in Aerospace Leadership Award; the 2010 YWCA Women of Distinction in Science and Technology; and the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2012 Bridge Builder Award.
