The UNT Dallas community extends its condolences to the family of Cathy Coursey, who has passed away. Cathy served our university as Assistant Director of Financial Aid for six years and was a trusted colleague and friend to UNT Dallas.

We are saddened by Cathy’s passing and I encourage members of our community to honor her life in their own way. Memorial details for Cathy Coursey will be shared once available.

“Cathy Caye Coursey, age 47, of Dallas, TX, passed away September 13, 2017. She was born January 1, 1970, in Dallas to Chris and Betty (Raney) Coursey. Cathy was a lifetime resident of Dallas and a member of First United Methodist Church in Richardson, TX. She worked in financial aid her entire career at five different colleges and currently was the Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of North Texas at Dallas. Cathy had a servant’s heart and truly cared about her coworkers and students. She loved her family, enjoyed being the only girl sibling and was a very proud aunt! She enjoyed traveling and her favorite places were Chicago and Colorado. Cathy was a sports fanatic! She loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks and enjoyed watching ESPN, especially college football and March Madness.

Cathy is survived by her loving brothers: Terry Shaver and wife Laurie, Scott Shaver and wife Mary Jane, Chris Coursey and wife Shawna and Clay Coursey and fiancée Christine; nieces and nephews: Brittany Shaver, Meredith Walraven and husband Keith, Jason Shaver and wife Jennifer, Lauren Coursey, Alex Coursey, McKenna Coursey, Chase Coursey and Lainey Coursey; great niece and nephew: Emery and Rex Walraven; uncles: Ray Raney and wife Nancy and Dale Raney and wife Carol; her loving aunt: Shirley Wintermute; and best friend: Barbara Johnston and husband Michael; along with a host of loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Chris and Betty Coursey.
