High demand for food in southern Dallas communities due to the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred the North Texas Food Bank(NTFB) to bring its disaster relief food truck back to the UNT Dallas campus from 10 a.m. - Noon on Tuesday, April 14. This free, drive-thru service is available to all community members. 

Safety precautions have been established to limit any physical interaction with those handling and loading the boxes of food. Participants will complete a simple intake form in their car and personnel from the Texas National Guard will be on site to load a box of shelf-staple food in the trunk and securely close it. The NTFB truck will be parked in Lot 2 (to the right of the main entrance). UNT Dallas police officers will direct the flow of traffic entering and exiting the UNT Dallas campus.

“We saw firsthand during our initial drive-thru food pantry the dire need for food during this public health crisis,” UNT Dallas President Bob Mong said. “It is crucial that we come together to help our students, faculty, staff and neighbors in need. We are grateful to partner with the North Texas Food Bank and serve these communities.”

The Dallas County shelter-in-place order allows residents to leave their homes to obtain food. All shelter-in-place guidelines are being followed. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of the NTFB mobile food distribution service during this difficult time.
