• Texas Trees Foundation: The UNT System, UNT Dallas and the Texas Trees Foundation met recently to hammer out a five-year plan for management of our woods. First phase will be applying for Tree Campus USA status and a fire prevention program.    
  • Campus Trails: President Bob Mong met with James Davis to discuss Dallas Park and Recreation plans. UNT Dallas may soon work with the city on grant funding for the proposed trail system.
  • School of Education: Dr. John Gasko, dean of the School of Education, conducted his first Leadership Advisory Committee meeting for the Emerging Teacher Institute on April 11, 2017. Gasko had a great turnout at the meeting, with attendees including Todd Williams, and several school superintendents and heads of feeder patterns.
  • DART: University representatives recently met with DART to discuss options to increase overall ridership among UNT Dallas’ faculty, staff, and students. Some of the ideas discussed, but not finalized, include additional DART/UNT Dallas signage, improved security, and reduced costs for passes.
  • Dr. Betty Stewart Honored: Midwestern State University recently honored Dr. Betty Stewart by renaming the Bolin Lab to the Betty H. Stewart Instrumental Lab.
  • Enrollment: As it stands now, summer enrollment will achieve record heights
  • Residence Hall Update: The University will take possession of the residence hall on or around July 5, 2017. The ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017.
  • Mental Health Initiative: We continue working with the foundation community, the City, Mayor and steering committee comprised of community organizations to determine the feasibility of building a mental/behavioral health facility in Southern Dallas. 
  • City Year: UNT Dallas hosted a recruitment event for City Year on campus April 17. The Americorps project performs deep tutoring in area high schools such as Spruce, Roosevelt and Thomas Jefferson.
