• President Mong Speaks at Cristo Rey: Mong spoke to 250 students about the importance of higher education. He also is working with Cristo Rey leadership about hosting CR interns on our campus.
  • UNTD Leadership Attend Mayor Rawlings’ GrowSouth Update: Members of UNTD leadership attended the Mayor’s GrowSouth update which focused on the progress happening throughout Southern Dallas, including in and around UNT Dallas.
  • Texas Trees Foundation: UNT Dallas is working with TTF on the next step in the process, including identifying wildlife that live on our campus.
  • Summer Interns: UNTD launched a much more organized summer internship program on our campus, all with assigned mentors and busy schedules and high expectations. Interns come to us from – Skyline High, A&M Commerce, UNT.
  • Leadership Southwest: Arthur Lumzy, director of Career Services, graduated from this year’s class of Leadership Southwest. Graduation was held at Dallas Baptist University. UNTD received several mentions during the graduation, thanks in part to Dr. Larry Terry’s involvement in the program and its curriculum.  
  • Best Southwest Scholarship: With the help of UNT Dallas, Best Southwest began one big annual student scholarship for $5,000, to be given each year to the winning student. The first recipient is heading to UNT Dallas this fall, and is eighth in her class at Duncanville ISD.
  • UNTD TV and Radio Station Coming Soon: UNT Dallas will launch its internet radio station this fall. Local radio stations have expressed interest in mentoring UNTD students in an effort to eg get the station up and running. The university also will launch UNTD TV as a part of the university’s institutional marketing efforts. The YouTube station will be made possible thanks to a partnership with Stephen Howard, a former NBA player and current ESPN commentator.
  • Caruth Police Institute: CPI recently completed several leadership trainings with are law enforcement including Dallas PD, Dallas Independent School District PD, and others. For more information on CPI and its offerings, visit www.untdallas.edu/cpi.
