UNT Dallas and The Potter’s House recently teamed up to host MegaFutures, an entrepreneurial contest for future business leaders in 6th-12th grade. The event was held in conjunction with MegaFest July 1, 2017 at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

UNT Dallas President Bob Mong was among five Dallas leaders chosen to judge the contest. The judges heard 3-minute pitches from two different groups of students, including five entrepreneurs from 6th-9th grade, and another five from 10th-12th grade. The students’ business pursuits ranged from a homemade organic barbeque sauce, to hair care products, and a book giveaway program.

President Mong had the privilege of awarding one of two $15,000 prizes to Monica Orzoco, a middle school student whose non-profit has already given away more than 15,000 books to kids who have never owned a book.
