UNT Dallas students are embracing opportunities to lead in and out of the classroom. This empowerment and desire to impact the community mirror the university’s own desire to empower students, transform lives, and strengthen the community. Not only are our students making a difference, they are excelling and receiving well deserved accolades along the way.

  • Student Research Symposium: Students had opportunities to participate in the second annual Student Research Symposium, Friday, April 28, 2017. Each of the original projects was sponsored by a faculty member. Last year’s Best in Show recipient went on to present their research project this spring in Austin.  
  • Society for Human Resources Management Student Chapter: The UNT Dallas SHRM chapter held its third annual awards ceremony. Industry partners, students, and community partners attended the luncheon. The chapter was recently recognized at the national level for its work and service.
  • DACA Forum: Students, faculty, and staff were invited to participate in a DACA Forum Wednesday, April 26, 2017. The forum served as a safe way for students to express personal concerns about DACA-related legislation.  
  • Student Speaker at Fairway to Success: Sophomore T.J. Vaughns recently spoke on a Fairways to Success panel. He received a $20,000 scholarship two years ago from Fairways, a partnership among Deloitte, PGA Foundation and United Way.
  • 1st JAG Awards banquet honoring student success took place April 28.
  • Wildlife Survey: Students are significant participants in our wildlife survey being overseen by Dr. Donna Hamilton.
  • Kappa Delta Chi sorority began a mentorship program at a local high school.
