Sunset High School hosted a signing day March 25, 2017 on the UNT Dallas campus for the first class of students enrolled in Sunset Collegiate Academy, and their families. The signing day was held in conjunction with the university’s Jaguar 360° event.

More than 120 students have enrolled in Sunset Collegiate Academy, which offers tracks in public health and bilingual education. Public health students will study the growing healthcare industry, and take coursework that can lead to careers in hospital administration, health and wellness, or prepare for medical school. The teacher education track also provides a significant benefit to Dallas ISD by allowing the district to “grow its own” teachers, teachers who will be more likely to remain in the district thanks to their own roots in Dallas ISD.

Representatives from Dallas Independent School District, Mountain View College, and UNT Dallas were in attendance. Lincoln High School will host a similar event for its Lincoln Collegiate Academy students later this spring.
