UNT Dallas purchased ad space on three billboards in March 2016 in support of the Holistic Enrollment Committee’s effort to grow enrollment. The billboards featured current UNT Dallas students along with the headline “Reach High,” and were posted along three major thoroughfares to garner awareness for UNT Dallas.  The billboards were at the Zang exit on northbound I-35, near the Loop 12 exit on southbound I-45, and on westbound I-20 near the Houston Road/University Hills exit.

The marketing communications department received numerous positive comments about the billboards. More importantly, the boards were part of a comprehensive marketing effort by Marketing Communications as part of the HEC effort to create a student-first message. President Mong felt the “REACH HIGH” in bold print would reinforce the message that a college degree is within reach thanks to UNT Dallas.

“The stories of our students are really the brand of this university,” said Randy Jolly, Associate VP Marketing and Communications. “Their incredible stories of grit and determination and seeking better lives for themselves and their families are what makes UNT Dallas so unique.”

The billboard graphics also graced several DART buses that drive the southern Dallas routes.  Shortly after the billboard and bus ads appeared, Olympia received a text from her sister. “She asked me if I knew I was on the side of a bus?”

A new set of billboards, DART bus and rail signage, direct mail, newspaper and social media ads will break soon to help maintain the momentum gained in the latest surge of enrollment and awareness.
