At the end of December, Police Chief Cliff Jaynes will retire, bringing to a clsoe a distinguished career in law enforcement spanning more than 40 years. Chief Jaynes spent the last five years helping to create and lead a very talented and effective UNT Dallas Police Department.

UNT Dallas faculty, staff and students celebrated Jaynes' career at his retirement reception Decemeber 8, 2016 in Founders 138. The well attended celebration included remarks from current and former UNT Denton police officers, UNT Dallas officers, as well as UNT Dallas faculty and staff who were each impacted by Jaynes during his time as chief.

Chief Jaynes' emphasis on being a good neighbor, friend and public servant has set the tone for the UNT Dallas police department. His care and genuine concern for the well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and guests shine through in every interaction, orientation session and crisis preparedness presentation he leads on campus.

Chief Jaynes will be hard to replace. His impact on this campus will long be remembered.
