students direct traffic at drive food food pantry

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to create extremely difficult economic challenges, especially for UNT Dallas neighbor communities that have been hard-hit by illness and unemployment. In an effort to provide relief to the southern Dallas community, UNT Dallas is again partnering with the North Texas Food Bank to bring a disaster relief mobile food pantry to campus on Tuesday, July 28, from 8 – 11 a.m.

This free, drive-thru service is available to students, faculty, staff and all community members in need. Safety precautions have been established to make the distribution of food a fully contact-less process. Participants will complete a simple intake form in their car and volunteers from the North Texas Food Bank and UNT Dallas will load a box of shelf-staple food in the trunk and securely close it. The NTFB truck will be parked in Lot 2 (to the right of the main entrance). UNT Dallas police officers will direct the flow of traffic entering and exiting the UNT Dallas campus.

“We continue to see an urgent need for food in our communities during this ongoing public health crisis,” UNT Dallas President Bob Mong said. “It is crucial that we come together to help our students, faculty, staff and neighbors in need. We are grateful for our partnership with the North Texas Food Bank that enables us to serve our communities in a meaningful way.”
