UNT Dallas hosted a large group of industry partners from the information technology (IT) field in February to examine the university’s current IT curriculum. Attendees included current and former IBM executives, Dallas Independent School District, other local districts, Dallas County Community College, and teachers and administrators from the Seagoville P-TECH Early College High School. The group suggested programmatic changes to make the program more contemporary and relevant to prospective students and industry partners.

Since that time the group has met to rough out next steps of the “Information Technology Enhancement Program.”

The group also identified four goals for the IT program:

  • Integrate expenses for the new program into next year’s budget;
  • Revamp curriculum;
  • Increase the number of IT grads;
  • Build capacity.
