Jim E. Main UNT Dallas Executive Vice President for Administration & Chief Financial Officer

Dallas - (June 8, 2018) – James E. “Jim” Main, who served the University of Nebraska for more than 17 years in various business and financial capacities, will bring his rich experience and background to the University of North Texas Dallas as Executive Vice President for Administration & Chief Financial Officer. Main will officially join Dallas’ fastest-growing and most-diverse 4-year university on June 11, 2018, overseeing all financial functions, as well as facilities and police/campus safety.

Main served the University of Nebraska from 1988 to 2005, most recently as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance. After leaving Nebraska, subsequent positions included: Vice President Finance/Administration at Southern Oregon University; Vice President Administration/CFO at Cal State Monterrey Bay; and Sr. Vice President Administration, Finance and Chief Operating Officer at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.

"Jim brings an unusually broad and diverse portfolio of directly-related experience to our growing university, including leadership roles at a state’s flagship university in University of Nebraska, a relatively new university in Cal State Monterey Bay and a graduate medical center in Drew," Mong said. "Over his distinguished career, Jim has built a reputation for collaboration, customer service, transparency and problem solving – all critical skills needed in this key position as we build UNTD into our region’s great urban university."

Main is set to oversee the financial operation for a rapidly expanding UNT Dallas campus and a student body that has grown more than 40 percent in the last two years to 3,500+. Underway is construction of the $63 million Student Learning and Success Center, slated for completion in early 2019, following on the heels of a 120-bed residence hall that opened last fall. In downtown Dallas, the UNT Dallas College of Law's historic, soon-to-be-home – the former Dallas City Hall at 106. S. Harwood St. – is undergoing a $56 million renovation in order to house the City's only public law school. The repurposing of one of Dallas' most-cherished landmarks will be completed in 2019 and is accompanied by a recently-completed $15 million exterior facelift of the building by the City of Dallas.

“President Mong and his leadership team at the University of North Texas at Dallas are building something special and I am grateful for the opportunity to help guide UNTD’s purposeful growth,” Main said. “The university’s mission to empower students, transform lives and strengthen communities resonates deeply with me and I am eager to work alongside UNTD’s talented students, faculty and staff.”
