Our annual fall freshman convocation, held August 24, provided an opportunity to reflect on how far UNT Dallas has come and how the possibilities ahead are infinite.

UNT Dallas is emerging as our city’s urban university. The lack of an affordable, high-caliber, 4-year university was a missing piece to our city’s emergence as the top job market in the country. But today, on the cusp of announcing another record for enrollment, UNT Dallas is changing the face of higher education in our city and beyond.

Just last week we were named the No. 2 public university in the nation for lowest debt amongst our students. That means our graduates aren’t entering the robust DFW job market worrying about student loans – instead, UNTD alumni are focused on following their dreams.

It's an exciting time on campus with additional growth and opportunity on the horizon. The opening of our first residence hall this month makes us a 24/7 village of learning and our new student center – opening next year – will further enrich all that UNT Dallas has to offer.

Best of luck this school year to our students, faculty and staff. Thank you for being an integral part of our vision as we continue to build a modern university to serve our city, state and beyond.
