What was your greatest takeaway from studying abroad?

Besides being grateful for my situation living in the USA, the most significant takeaway was the broad awareness I developed after living in Spain. I had a great experience that extended after the program, which allowed me to further my drive to keep my passion for adventure.

Jesstyn Baker

Human Services Management and Leadership major; Spanish and Mathematics minors

Why did you study abroad?

I studied abroad because I wanted an immersive experience that required me to learn and understand more of the Spanish language. Through my program, I was able to travel around Spain and learn about food, culture, and people in different areas.

What was your greatest takeaway from studying abroad?

I had two major takeaways; 1) the color of my skin is not something you see frequently abroad, but never let that stop you from seeing the world, 2) surfing for the first time, I did not think I would be able to do it, and honestly, I did do a great job, and I would do it again if I had the chance.

Brittany Rosas

General Business major; Marketing minor

Business, International Relations & Liberal Arts - Rome

Why did you study abroad?

I chose to study abroad to immerse myself in a new culture, make connections, get out of my comfort zone, and challenge myself to navigating through a language barrier.

What advice do you have for others who may be interested?

Go for it! Even if you're feeling scared or unsure, it's the perfect time to leap. Studying abroad was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I not only learned a new language but also gained a deeper understanding of different cultures. The support I received from my family and the study abroad office made the transition much smoother than I expected. If you're considering studying abroad, I highly encourage you to take the plunge. It's an investment in your future that you won't regret.

What was your greatest takeaway from studying abroad?

My greatest takeaway from studying abroad was the importance of slowing down and living in the present moment. Coming from a background where I was always focused on the future, I found the Italian culture's emphasis on work-life balance and enjoying the moment to be refreshing. Seeing how people in Italy were able to maintain a healthy social life and still be successful made me realize that I didn't need to be constantly planning. This newfound appreciation for the present has helped me reduce stress and live a more fulfilling life.

German Nino

Business, International Relations & Liberal Arts - Rome

Why did you study abroad?

I wanted to live up to the name of the school and be a trailblazer by becoming part of the first cohort of students to study abroad in Rome.

What advice do you have for others who may be interested?

Please start saving today and I promise you it is not out of reach.

What was your greatest takeaway from studying abroad?

My trip to Italy inspired me to explore the world, take chances, stand alone and learn about different cultures.

What advice do you have for others who may be interested?

My advice is simple: be open-minded and do not be scared of trying new things.

Besides the academic knowledge I gained from studying abroad, I loved seeing another perspective of life and how different and unique the culture is.
