    Presidential Scholars Application Form

    Developing the Leaders Dallas Needs

    The Presidential Scholarship is regarded as the most prestigious merit-based freshman scholarship at UNT Dallas. Participants engage in leadership development activities, community service projects, and campus programming, in addition to serving as ambassadors of the university on behalf of the President.

    Presidential Scholars are equipped to be:

    • Engaged leaders on campus and in the surrounding community.
    • Knowledgeable in local, national and world affairs, including civic engagement, social justice, intellectual innovation and technological based communications.
    • Aware of various elements of intercultural fluency and their impacts on the cultural, economic, physical and intellectual issues in society.
    • Excited by perspectives and points of view in order to increase their understanding of dialogue and intellectual debate.

    Presidential Scholars Program Criteria

    The Presidential Scholars program seeks to admit a group of enthusiastic and talented students from various high schools. While the Presidential Scholars Program values high academic achievement, it is also important that Presidential Scholars are well-rounded individuals who are dedicated to serving their campus and community. The Presidential Scholars selection committee looks at applicants on a holistic level and takes into consideration a combination of GPA, test scores, high school and community involvement, strength of essays, and strength of recommendation letters when making selections. 

    Admissions and Selection Process

    The Presidential Scholars Program within the Department of Student Leadership & Success at UNT Dallas is for first-time incoming college freshmen who have been admitted to the University of North Texas at Dallas. The application closes on December 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

    Eligibility Criteria 

    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (unweighted).
    • Involvement in school and/or community activities.
    • Must be a first-time incoming freshman who has been admitted to UNT Dallas.
    • Submission of a complete application including the 2 recommendation forms submitted by your recommenders also by December 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

    Application Requirements  

    • Contact information.
    • UNT Dallas Student ID.  
    • Upload a copy of unofficial Fall 2025 high school transcript (PDF).
    • Upload copy of SAT/ACT test scores (PDF) *optional but highly encouraged for consideration.
    • Upload copy of resume (PDF).
    • Submission of 2 recommendation forms on your behalf from 2 different recommenders.
    • Responses to four short essay questions.
    • Response to one long essay question.
