Dan Edelman, PhD, CPA, serves as UNT Dallas’ Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer.  Edelman came to UNT Dallas from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he served as Associate Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, as well as Interim Dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Agriculture. Prior to that, Edelman was Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Head of the Department of Accounting, among other responsibilities.

Under the direction of Dr. Dan Edelman, CPA, the Office of Finance and Administration manages and accounts for funds that keep the University running.  This includes finding funds for student tutoring, hiring faculty and staff, paying for the daily upkeep of the facilities, and putting gas in the police cars.  During Edelman’s tenure as CFO, UNT Dallas built a modern residence hall, obtained funding for a new student learning and success center, and remodeled the College of Law building.

Dr. Edelman and his staff are committed to bringing the best resources to bear to create and sustain a learning environment where students can thrive.  Together, Edelman and his team in the Office of Finance and Administration hope to lead by example through their integrity, hard work and overriding concern for the success of the University.

Edelman has a long history in education.  He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Information Technology Professional, Chartered Global Management Accountant, Certified in Financial Forensics, and a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

Edelman is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Dallas CPA Society.  Edelman is also a disabled U.S. Army veteran, and plays an active role in building and supporting the university’s Veteran Success Center.
