Biography

Royal brings 11 years of coaching experience and a celebrated athletic career in high school and college to his debut seasons at UNTD.  A native of Lawton, Okla., he served as boys and girls cross-country and girls track coach at Dallas Roosevelt  and Madison High. While at Madison, the girls team captured the District 11-AAA track championship in 2019.

Royal is intimately familiar with the level of NAIA competition his teams will face as members of the Sooner Athletic Conference.  As a student athlete at California Baptist University in Riverside, Calif., he twice earned All-America recognition as a hurdler and sprinter.  He and his teammates won the NAIA Indoor national championship in 1999. While attending Eisenhower High in Lawton, Okla., he was a member of two state Class AAAAA championship teams.

He began his coaching career at Norco (Calif.) High School in 2000 where his boy and girls teams won conference championships, earning Royal Coach of the Year honors.

Kenneth is the widowed father of three boys (KenYon, Kevin and Korey) and two girls (Kelley and Kayla), ranging in age from 25 to 11. His wife Kimberly recently died following a bout with cancer.
