The Conrad Program is managed at UNT Dallas, but is open to all qualified undergraduate and graduate students across Texas. You do not need any affiliation with UNT Dallas to apply. See full application requirements below.

Texas State Senator Royce West established the Conrad Leadership Program to help Texas students gain employment experience before they graduate.
The program is named after the renowned Dallas African-American physician and educational advocate, Dr. Emmett J. Conrad. Since being established in 1993, there are now more than 3,500 Conrad Alumni.

Application Requirements
- Participate in 1 of 5 Conrad application information sessions (see Application Resources section below). The application link will be provided following the information sessions.
- Be enrolled at a four-year college or university
- Maintain a grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4-point grading scale).
- We accept scholars with any major.
- Complete the initial online application form and provide required documentation (recommendation letters, resume, unofficial transcript, and cover letter).
- Pass the Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Leadership Program presceening and selection committee interviews.

Summer 2027 Applications Open: Friday, August 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Summer 2027 Applications Close: Friday, October 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Interview Scheduling: Friday, October 2, 2026
Virtual Selection Interviews: October 5, 2026 - October 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Pre-Screening Video Deadline: Monday, November 2, 2026
Recommendation Letters Deadline: Monday, November 2, 2026
Acceptance Letters Distribution: December 2026
