Yolanda Franklin joins UNT Dallas as Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications after serving more than 14 years as Texas Woman’s University’s Director of Marketing and Creative Services. She was named to this post following an extensive national search.
“Ms. Franklin’s track record as a strategic, team-oriented and creative professional is a perfect fit for UNT Dallas,” said President Bob Mong. “She knows and appreciates the market and will help us grow our brand presence.”
Indeed, UNT Dallas has become the state’s fastest-growing university under Mong’s leadership, nearly doubling in size from 2,488 students in 2015 to 4,000-plus students this fall. Similarly, TWU has grown 38 percent in a little over a decade.
Franklin begins her new position on Dec. 2 and will lead UNT Dallas’ advertising, branding, website, social media, publications, media relations and photo/video functions. She will report under Dr. Monica Williams, Vice President for University Advancement, collaborating with a senior leadership team that is deliberate in its efforts to build programming and scholarship resources in order to better serve urban Dallas-Fort Worth as a pathway to socioeconomic mobility.
Williams, whose relationship-driven approach has helped UNT Dallas achieve new records for fundraising, said TWU’s cultural similarities to UNT Dallas should help Franklin hit the ground running in her new role.
“Like UNT Dallas, TWU is driven to bridge gaps through education as one of the most diverse institutions in the country,” Williams said. “It’s clear that those shared goals and values resonate with Yolanda, and we are thrilled to welcome her as a UNT Dallas Trailblazer.”
Prior to arriving at TWU in 2005, Franklin worked in corporate marketing and communications for a decade. She is a graduate of the University of North Texas.
