Law School Admissions Test

What is LSAT?

The Law School Admission Test is a half-day standardized test required for admission to all LSAC-member law schools. It consists of five 35-minute sections of multiple-choice questions.

Four of the five sections contribute to the test taker's score. These sections include:

  • one reading comprehension section
  • one analytical reasoning section
  • two logical reasoning sections
  • the fifth section is for pre-test purposes

The LSAT is designed to measure skills that are considered essential for success in law school: the reading and comprehension of complex texts with accuracy and insight; the organization and management of information and the ability to draw reasonable inferences from it; the ability to reason critically; and the analysis and evaluation of the reasoning and argument of others.

Important Things to Know

  • Carefully review the information in the LSAT registration bulletin for test day rules and regulations; any student that fails to adhere to all of the guidelines outlined in the LSAT registration bulletin will be dismissed from the testing center.
  • Parking - Test takers are able to park in any free general parking space.  We recommend arriving 30 minutes early to allow sufficient time for parking and reporting to the testing location.
  • Check-in Location - Test day check-in is located on the second floor of the student center in Room 2025.  The student center is located directly behind the 7300 building; once inside the building please follow signs directing you towards the University Testing Center & Learning Commons.
