UNT Dallas is beyond pleased to share that Chris Marshall, a Trailblazer alum, current grad student and one of the most active and recognizable students on campus, has won a long battle with COVID-19.
Chris started feeling ill in mid-March. He was hospitalized in Dallas, and later flown to Medical City Plano, where he credits the hospital’s staff for saving his life.
“I was at death’s door,” Chris told NBC5 in this report. Chris’ remarkable journey to recovery was also chronicled by the Dallas Morning News. “The doctors and nurses did an amazing job. They didn’t give up on me.”
Chris spent three long weeks in the hospital and six days in a coma. He awakened from his coma on his 37th birthday. He details aspects of his frightening journey on his Facebook page, including this heartfelt video taken when he was discharged from Medical City Plano.
UNT Dallas is in awe of the medical professionals who helped save Chris’ life, and we can’t wait to welcome Chris, his beaming smile and boisterous personality, back to campus.
