Welcome Trailblazers!

We’re excited you’ve chosen UNT Dallas to continue your degree! Our one-day Transfer New Student Orientation (NSO) is built to give you the essential tools, resources, and connections you need while respecting your time. Throughout the day, you’ll learn about academic expectations, explore campus support services, and connect with student organizations and traditions. By the end of your orientation, you’ll feel confident, supported, and ready to begin your journey as a proud member of the UNT Dallas community.

Transfer NSO FAQs

New Student Orientation is your official welcome to UNT Dallas! During your session, you’ll meet other new Trailblazers, connect with Orientation Leaders, and get to know faculty and staff who are here to support you. You’ll learn about important academic resources, explore student life opportunities, and gain a better understanding of our campus traditions and expectations. Most importantly, you’ll register for classes and leave with the tools and connections you need to start your first semester with confidence.

Orientation dates for UNT Dallas are announced in advance so you have plenty of time to plan. For Spring sessions, dates are typically posted in mid-October, giving incoming students a few months to register and prepare. For Summer and Fall sessions, dates are usually posted in early February. Once the dates are available, you can register for the session that works best for you. We recommend checking the website regularly, as spaces may fill up quickly and registering early ensures you get your preferred session.

Yes! New Student Orientation is a required step for all incoming transfers.

NSO ensures you are fully prepared to begin your college journey. It gives you the chance to meet your classmates, connect with faculty and staff, learn about important campus resources, understand university expectations, and register for your first semester of classes. Attending NSO sets you up for a smooth transition and a successful start at UNT Dallas.

A $100 fee is required for each new student who registers for orientation. This fee helps cover the cost of new student “swag,” program activities, online platforms, staffing, and other resources to support you during your first year at UNT Dallas. You do not need to pay the fee upfront to attend orientation. After you attend your required session, the fee will be applied to your student account and can be paid online through your MyUNTDallas portal.

Yes! Before attending your New Student Orientation session, make sure to:

  • Submit your final college transcript (if applicable) prior to or at your scheduled NSO.
  • If 22 years of age or younger, you must show evidence of bacterial meningitis vaccination. For more information, visit the vaccination webpage.
  • Visit the Admitted Student page for more information on your Next Steps in addition to New Student Orientation.

For information about registering for your New Student Orientation, visit our orientation registration page. If you have any further questions or trouble registering for orientation, please don't hesitate to email us back at orientation@untdallas.edu or call (972) 338-1663.
