This loan is not based on financial need. The lender is the U.S. Department of Education.
You are responsible for paying the interest on a Direct Unsubsidized Loan during all periods. Interest payments can be made while half-time enrollment is active or can be deferred until graduation. Your interest will accrue (accumulate), and it will in certain instances be capitalized (which means that your interest will be added to the principal amount of your loan). Whether your unpaid interest capitalizes or not, you are still responsible for paying the interest that accrues. You can always choose to pay the interest that accrues even when you are not required to make a payment.

Disbursement and Payment
Loan funds will not be disbursed (pay) until all requested documentation, including Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note (MPN) has been submitted, your FAFSA information reviewed and then your aid package will be considered completed and awarded.
A note will be placed on your myUNTD "To Do List" if additional steps are required before disbursement.
If the financial aid file is complete, disbursements can be made as early as ten days prior to the first day of a Fall or Spring fee payment (August/January) period. However, disbursements can also occur throughout an enrollment term upon completion of a file.
Repayment
Repayment begins six months after enrollment drops below half-time status or upon the point of graduation.
