Congratulations to Stacey Neal (Mayfield) Combest, J.D. for her gubernatorial appointment. Ms. Combest is a 2018 graduate of the UNT Dallas College of Law.  Gov. Abbott has appointed Ms. Combest to serve on the Texas Commission on Special Education Funding as Chair, which will develop recommendations for statutory changes to improve special education funding for the Texas public schools.

She is a parent and guardian of a son with severe Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD).  Ms. Combest is the legislative director for the Denton State Supported Living Center Family Association, a legislative committee member of Parents and Allies for Remarkable Texans, and the former President of Texans for State Supported Living Centers. She is a Texan advocate for Voice of Reason; a national organization dedicated to educating and advocating for the needs of those with IDD.  Stacey previously served on the Long-Term Care Subcommittee reporting to the Committee for Children with Special Needs (SB 643). She continues to encourage our state legislators to enact pro-disability legislation.

Stacey Combest exemplifies the values of the UNT Dallas College of Law. We are very proud of her service to the special-needs population.
