The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) climbed even higher in three key categories of the 2025 U.S. News & World Report "Best Colleges" rankings released last week.
The rankings are well respected and used by students and parents in deciding which college is best for their needs, desires and goals. U.S. News & World Report uses a specific methodology to review hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide. Only some make the cut.
In Regional Universities West, UNT Dallas ranked #35, up from #44 on the 2024 list, putting the university in the top tier. The region includes 60 public and 58 private institutions from 14 states. There are four regions: North, South, Midwest and West in the U.S. News review.
UNT Dallas ranks #18 in the Top Public Schools category of Regional West Universities, rising from #22 last year. UNT Dallas ranks #20 in Social Mobility category, a 10-point jump from #30 in 2024.
For the first time, UNT Dallas is included in the Best for Veterans category, ranked #21. Long known for providing rigorous and affordable academic programs and having the lowest student debt in the region, UNT Dallas ranked #40 in the Best Value category.
