Investiture of Dr. Warren von Eschenbach

What is Investiture?

Investiture is one of higher education’s oldest traditions, marking both continuity and renewal. At UNT Dallas, it signifies a pivotal moment — welcoming new leadership while honoring the university’s history and mission.

The ceremony brings together regents, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and guests in academic regalia, accompanied by music, the presentation of the presidential medallion, and the formal investiture. The event culminates in the new president’s inaugural address.

Together, these traditions mark the beginning of a new chapter for UNT Dallas and its community.

"A Beacon of Hope"

The Ryan Tower statue is a symbol of the immense promise and enormous potential of a higher education. Once referred to as “a Beacon of Hope” by Senator Royce West, the University of North Texas at Dallas embodies these ideals and inspires generations of students and residents alike. Funded by a $2 million gift from former chair of the University of North Texas System Board of Regents, G. Brint Ryan and his wife, Amanda, the Ryan Tower stands as a visible symbol of the university’s impact on the City of Dallas and the wider region.
