Jessica Alvarez recently joined UNT Dallas in the newly created position of Assistant Dean for Student Success in Health Professions.
Alvarez assumes her role as the university prepares to open our new STEM Building and collaborate with the UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth to offer unique nursing and pharmacy programs. Alvarez will be a guide and champion for students pursuing careers in healthcare, providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive.
"I'm passionate about creating opportunities for all students to succeed, and UNT Dallas offers the perfect platform," Alvarez said. "I was drawn to the dynamic environment, collaborative spirit, and opportunities for innovation, particularly the chance to partner with UNT Health Science Center to create supportive pathways for students in health professions."
For the past six years, Alvarez served as a pre-health coordinator and advisor at Texas Christian University. She also served as a peer mentor program director and adjunct faculty member in several subjects, including Schools Curriculum and Society, Child and Adolescent Development, and University Life.
"Building strong relationships is crucial for student success, and I'm committed to supporting students from exploration to graduation and beyond," said Alvarez. "By fostering a supportive environment, we can empower our students to reach their full potential and become the next generation of healthcare leaders who can serve Dallas communities."
Alvarez earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Arizona and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from William Woods University in Missouri. She is nearing completion of her doctoral degree in Curriculum Studies at TCU.
Please welcome Jessica and support her as she empowers our students to become the next generation of healthcare leaders.
