UNT Dallas is launching its first free summer program for incoming freshmen to ensure they are prepared for college-level coursework. It is an opportunity to jump-start their UNT journey before the Fall semester begins on August 26.

The Trail Ready Summer Bridge Program starts June 10. It runs for four weeks through July 3. A second, identical session runs from July 15 through August 8. This no-cost program is designed for students who have not met the Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2) standards in reading, writing, or math.

Trail Ready will be held on campus, introducing students to UNT Dallas resources, facilities, and activities. Classes are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will gain knowledge and skills to be college-ready by the Fall semester. By meeting attendance requirements, they can receive free tuition for one first-year, 3-credit-hour course (English Composition or Introductory College Math).

Students may sign up for Session 1, Session 2, or both, depending on their TSIA2 scores (one subject per session). At the end of the program, they will retake the TSIA2 for free.

Bundled together, these three free offers provide students a chance to get ahead of what’s ahead by:

  • Meeting UNT Dallas faculty before fall
  • Connecting with other freshman students
  • Learning what you need to know, grow, and get ready for your first year at UNT Dallas

The registration deadlines are June 5 for the first session and July 10 for the second session. Eligible students should register here as soon as possible. By doing so, they can make this a summer of success and be confident of a strong start to the Fall semester.
