Immediate Resources for Care

In this section, you'll find resources available immediately to law enforcement officers across Texas. These resources provide urgent assistance for officers in need of support, especially in crisis situations or for immediate mental health concerns. These services include crisis hotlines and other emergency response programs that are ready to offer support when needed most.

A Searchable Database of culturally appropriate provider resources. 

Text (988) to be connected to the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline which is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States. We're committed to improving crisis services and advancing suicide prevention by empowering individuals, advancing professional best practices, and building awareness.

The First Responders Lifeline Program was created to meet the needs of our First Responders seeking treatment for substance abuse issues and co-occurring disorders. We have developed an evidence based population specific curriculum to address unique needs and stressors of our First Responders.

COPLINE® offers a CONFIDENTIAL 24-hour hotline answered by retired law enforcement officers who have gone through a strenuous vetting and training process to become an active listener. CopLine® retired officer listeners provide assistance with the successful management of various psychosocial stressors that impact a significant number of law enforcement officers and their families. Should the caller need further assistance the retired officer listener has access to vetted clinical referrals to therapists and programs throughout our callers regions to further assist with ongoing stressors.

Each year, between 140 and 160 officers die in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope. C.O.P.S. provides resources to help them rebuild their shattered lives. There is no membership fee to join C.O.P.S., for the price paid is already too high.

Text 741741 to be connected with a free, 24/7, trained Crisis Counselor. Crisis Text Line serves anyone, in any type of crisis, providing access to free, 24/7 support via mediums people already use and trust.

F1RST is a comprehensive wellness program addressing the impact of repeated stress exposure on a First Responder’s overall health, performance, and relationships. Our interdisciplinary team consists of a First Responder psychologist, mental health providers, behavioral and child specialists, physical and manual therapists, human performance coaches, an exercise physiologist, a registered dietician, and a research team. 

F1RST is dedicated to providing comprehensive and evidence-based training and confidential therapeutic programming that enhances the lives of First Responders and their families. We believe in taking a proactive approach to first responder health through agency wide skills trainings. We also offer injury mitigation, comprehensive active recovery from critical incidents, couples’ workshops/retreats, performance diagnostics and more.  We are already working with Department of Justice Bureaus and over 150 municipal departments to provide the highest quality of comprehensive culturally competent wellness services.  We are credentialed under most EAP’s and insurance providers.

This program is designed to provide no cost clinical resources for police officers including counseling and psychologist’s office and telehealth visits.  These services are accessed without having to go through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Officer Wellness Programs at an employer (police department), or Insurance Referrals.

The Valor Officer Safety and Wellness Program is dedicated to the preventing injuries and deaths of law enforcement officers and the people they serve and improving the health and resilience of officers. Health, wellness, and prevention resources are available on the Valor For Blue website.

Free anonymous online peer support. Hour long group sessions available several times/week. No more than 10 participants per meeting. Vision: Our heroes in the first responder community have resources to build resilience and cope with the unique stressors that come with the job.

Telehealth offers accessible mental health support to officers across the state without the need to visit a clinic in person, while Regional Providers are prositioned in your area to provide onsite care.

Spiritual well-being plays a vital role in mental health and resilience. Our faith-based resources connect you with chaplains, support groups, and faith-centered counseling services designed to offer guidance, comfort, and encouragement. No matter your beliefs, these resources provide a source of strength and support in challenging times.
