Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Licensing Exams

The TCEQ is dedicated to the protection of the environment and human health through the responsible licensing of individuals whose occupations mat have environmental impact. Please visit the TCEQ website for information regarding preparation, requirements, and approvals that you must have befor eyou take an occupational licensing exam.

TCEQ Information

Step 1:  Vist the TCEQ website to register or call 512-239-1000 for assistance.

Step 2:  Schedule your exam on our website  

Step 3:  On the test day, please bring your approval form from TCEQ and approved forms of identification. 

TCEQ exams that are 4 hours or less in duration may be retaken on the same day, if time and space permist. If retesting is available, you will be allowed a short break, without study, and time to make the additional fee paymeny before retest begins.

  • Valid Texas givernment-issued identification with a photo and signature (driver's license or state-issued ID)
  • Social Security number, required to login to TCEQ exam

 

Prohibited Items

  • Hats or jackets, if needed for the weather, these items must be placed with the proctor;
  • sunglasses;
  • electronic equipment including cell phones, smart watches, pagers, two-way radios, all devices with a camera;
  • food or drinks;
  • study guides or notes, except for Municipal Solid Waste Class A & B guides and notes.

Wastewater Treatment and Collection System Operators

  • Class I Wastewater Collection System Operator

  • Class B Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator

All testers are required to purchase a guest permit that is valid for one day. Please visit the UNT Dallas Visitor and Guest Parking website for more information.

NOTE: All exams have a 3-hour time limit unless otherwise noted.

Pre-approval of your licensing application is required. For pre-approval, applicants should contact TCEQ before registering exam.
