Presidential Scholars Program

Developing the Leaders Dallas Needs

The Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious merit-based freshman scholarship at UNT Dallas, valued at $66,800 over four years. Participants engage in leadership development activities, community service projects, and campus programming, and they serve as ambassadors of the university on behalf of the President.

Presidential Scholars are equipped to be:

  • Engaged leaders on campus and in the surrounding community
  • Knowledgeable in local, national, and world affairs, including civic engagement, social justice, intellectual innovation, and technology-enabled communication
  • Aware of elements of intercultural fluency and their impacts on cultural, economic, physical, and intellectual issues in society
  • Open to diverse perspectives to deepen understanding of dialogue and intellectual debate

Admissions and Selection Process

The Presidential Scholars Program within the Department of Student Leadership & Success at UNT Dallas is for first-time incoming college freshmen who have been admitted to the University of North Texas at Dallas. The application closes on December 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (unweighted)
  • Involvement in school and/or community activities
  • Must be a first-time incoming freshman admitted to UNT Dallas
  • Submission of a complete application, including two recommendation forms submitted by your recommenders, by December 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

  • Upload a copy of unofficial high school transcript (PDF)
  • Upload copy of SAT/ACT test scores (PDF) optional but strongly encouraged
  • Upload copy of resume (PDF)
  • Two recommendation forms from two different recommenders
  • Responses to four short essay questions
  • Response to one long essay question
