Move Out Information

 

Fall 2024 Closing

Wisdom Hall will close for Fall 2024 on Saturday, December 14th at 12:00PM. 

The building will be closed and access removed to all residents who are not signed up for Winter Break Housing until Friday, January 10th 2025 at 8:00AM for the Spring semester.  Residents will not be returning to the university will need to either move out prior to Fall 2024 Closing or on Friday, January 10th by 5:00PM.  

If residents plan to return to campus in the Spring, they will only need to take their important personal items (i.e. clothes, medications) that they will need over break.  The Wisdom Hall staff will provide residents with Fall closing expectations in their November Floor Meeting.  We ask that all residents please review the information and follow all instructions for a quick and easy closing.  

If current residents do not plan to return to campus in Spring 2025, residents will need to email a Housing professional staff member of their desire to cancel their housing contract by Friday, December 27, 2024 at 5:00PM to avoid any penalties or additional fees.  Residents planning to move out at the end of Fall semester will need to move by Saturday, December 14th at 12:00PM

MOVE OUTs (NOT RETURNING IN SPRING):

If you are NOT RETURNING to Wisdom Hall in the Spring.  You will need to move out no later than December 14th at 12:00PM.

How to avoid additional charges to your account:

  1. Contact a professional housing staff member via email by Friday, December 27, 2024 at 5:00PM.   
  2. Complete and sign the Closing Checklist.  Failure to do so can result in a Improper Checkout Fee of $75 and/or additional costs for items that are not completed.  
  3. Turn in your keys into either your RA, the Front Desk, or the EXPRESS CHECKOUT BOX located next to the front desk
  4. Leave the building prior to closing.  Failure to do so can result in a improper Checkout Fee of $75. 
  5. Cancel your Renter’s Insurance & forward your mail.

Damages: Once you have vacated the space, the staff will inspect the room for cleanliness and damages.  Staff will indicate the charge amount, if any, for room damages, cleaning, community damages,etc.. Professional staff is the only personnel that can approve or assess damages, this does not include RAs or other student staff.

THOSE RETURNING NEXT SEMESTER:

  1. Leave the building prior to closing.  Failure to do so can result in a improper Checkout Fee of $75.
  2. Complete and sign the Closing Checklist. Failure to do so can result in a Improper Checkout Fee of $75 and/or additional costs for items that are not completed. 

Winter room inspections: Staff will enter rooms, once residents have left to check for cleanliness, closing checklist, fire & life safety, and room violations. This can result in an Incident Report, Improper Checkout Fee of $75 and/or additional costs for items that are not completed.

Students will be notified of any charges to their account.  Charges will be posed to the student accounts by he beginning of the Spring 2025 Semester.  

Winter Break Housing and Dining 2024

Residents will be allowed to stay in the residence hall after Fall Closing for the duration of Winter Break.  Winter Break housing is optional for Wisdom Hall residents and is a separate cost from Fall and Spring housing prices.  Residents who desire to stay on campus over break will remain in their current assignment from December 14th - January 10, 2025.  Residents must complete a form if they plan to stay past 12:00PM on Saturday, 12/14 or if they wish to stay during Winter Break.  All front desk operations and processes will remain in effect but student and professional staff will be limited at times when the university is closed.

Spring 2025 Closing

Wisdom Hall will close for Spring 2025 on May 10th at 12:00pm. 

The building will be closed and resident access to the building will be terminated.  Residents will not be able to return back to the building after Spring closing.  

Quick and easy move out information:

  • Clean your room and bathroom
  • Remove trash and personal belongings from room
  • Complete and Sign you Checkout Checklist
  • Optional - Check out with your RA
  • Return your room and mailbox keys in the provided envelope and turn it into the front desk or Overnight Express mailbox located next to the Front Desk.  Please be sure to fill out and seal your envelope.  

The Housing Staff will review the room for cleanliness and damages after the building is closed.  Students will be emailed regarding damage or cleaning charges to their account.  Charges will be added to the student account withing 30 business days of closing.  

Things to remember:

  • Residents will need to forward their mail.  Housing staff will not hold mail for residents.
  • Residents who do not plan to return next year, will need to cancel their renter's insurance.
