Lewis Giles is Assistant Director of Library Services at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law, where he has worked since 2014. He oversees collection management and public services for the law library, leads programming and events, supervises staff and student assistants, and has served as project manager for the university-wide migration to a new library management system.
Lewis is also an adjunct instructor at the University of North Texas College of Information, where he teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. His courses emphasize case-based learning, practitioner guest engagement, and detailed individualized feedback.
He is the 2022 recipient of the American Association of Law Libraries' Robert L. Oakley Advocacy Award, recognizing his work to expand library card access at the Dallas Public Library. As a member of the City of Dallas Municipal Library Board from 2019 to 2022, he championed the elimination of late fees, the introduction of Wi-Fi hotspot lending, and a policy change adopted by the Dallas City Council in October 2021 that extended free library card access to students at all educational institutions within city limits, including Dallas College, Paul Quinn College, and UNT Dallas. His other honors include the 2020 UNT Dallas Impact Award and multiple AALL marketing and publication awards.
Lewis holds an MS in Library Science from the University of North Texas and an MA in Emerging Media and Communications from the University of Texas at Dallas.
