Xakema Henderson

Xakema Henderson joined the UNT Dallas College of Law faculty in August 2026 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor. She teaches Business Associations, Remedies, and Torts.

Professor Henderson received her bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University with a minor in professional writing. She received her juris doctor from the University of Colorado Boulder where she was a legal writing teaching assistant and a member of the school’s national moot court team.

Following graduation, Professor Henderson clerked for the Honorable Justice William W. Hood, III, an associate justice of the Colorado Supreme Court. Professor Henderson then practiced for 11 years as a corporate litigator, initially joining Baker Hostetler LLP’s Denver office where she practiced until she returned home to Dallas in 2018.

Before joining the UNT Dallas College of Law faculty, Professor Henderson was a litigation and insurance coverage partner in the Dallas office of Akerman LLP where she defended corporations in state and federal courts across the country and advised insurance companies on high-exposure regulatory and litigation trends, including those arising from PFAS. The Dallas Business Journal and Bloomberg Law recognized Professor Henderson on their 40 Under 40 lists in 2023 and 2024, respectively. 

Professor Henderson’s research interests include mass torts such as PFAS-related litigation and judicial opinion writing and rhetoric. Professor Henderson is also a bar exam developer for Kaplan, drafting essay and performance test questions for the California Bar Exam.
