Who is this program for?
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum & Instruction degree (Initial Teacher Certification) is designed for post-baccalaureate students interested in earning Initial teacher certification with an opportunity to continue to complete the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction.
This program prepares future K-12 educators with a rigorous curriculum in classroom research and pedagogical content with courses that are infused with instructional technology, real-life instructional challenges, and evidence-based instruction. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to understand learner characteristics, identify materials that enhance inquiry and critical thinking, incorporate the latest technologies in teaching and learning, and design assessments using the instructional design process.

What are my certification options?
UNT Dallas offers most certifications available in Texas. Applicants are required to take the Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT) exam in order to show a high level of content knowledge in the certification area prior to admittance to the EPP.
Certification options include (but are not limited to):
- EC-6 Core Subjects (Elementary)
- ESL or Bilingual supplemental certification
- 4-8 Core Subjects (Middle School)
- 4-8 Social Studies (Middle School)
- 4-8 Science (Middle School)
- 4-8 English, Language Arts, and Reading (Middle School)
- 4-8 Math (Middle School)
- 7-12 (High School) English, Language Arts, and Reading
- EC-12 (All Level) Languages Other Than English - Spanish

How do I apply?
Admission Standards
Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 undergraduate semester hours of work prior to receiving the bachelor’s degree, or an overall 2.8 GPA on all undergraduate work. Applicants with a completed master's degree must have at least a 3.4 GPA on the graduate coursework.
