Frequently Asked Questions

The UNT Dallas Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization under the IRS Internal Revenue Code. The foundation’s federal tax ID number (EIN) is 45-3072303.

How does the UNT Dallas Foundation serve the university?

The foundation is an “affiliated entity” of UNT Dallas and exists specifically to benefit the university in its efforts to provide students affordable access to higher education. It does this through numerous efforts to raise philanthropic contributions, grants, and other revenue while also working to engage alumni and friends through the UNT Dallas Alumni Association.

What is the relationship between the UNTD Foundation and the UNTD Alumni Association?

The UNT Dallas Foundation and the UNT Dallas Alumni Association have teamed up to inspire all of our audiences – alumni, friends, employees, current students, and others, to become more involved in advancing the university.

The UNT Dallas Alumni Association operates as a departmental unit of the foundation, and works to strengthen relationships among alumni and friends, encouraging them to stay connected with UNT Dallas for life.

Why does the university need private donations?

Public colleges and universities across America like UNT Dallas have historically relied on state funding, tuition, and donations to operate. Over the years, the percentage of funding from state governments has decreased nationwide. This makes public institutions like ours increasingly reliant on student tuition and fees, and efforts to keep costs affordable are becoming much more challenging due to inflation and several other market-related factors. This requires institutions of higher education to seek numerous other sources of funding, including private donations.

What is your address for donating by mail?

When will I receive a receipt for my gift?

If you made your contribution via the UNT Dallas Foundation website, you should have received an email soon after you submitted your gift online. If not, please email us at UNTD-Advancement@untdallas.edu and let us know.

I made a third-party gift. Will I get a receipt?

Donor tax receipts are issued to the legal donor of the contribution. If you made your gift through your company or family foundation, the receipt will be issued to the respective organization as the legal donor. However, if you made your gift through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), the organization managing your DAF should have issued you a receipt for tax purposes. The UNT Dallas Foundation does not issue donor tax receipts for contributions received through Donor-Advised Funds.
