Graduation

           Fall 2024 Graduation

Graduation

What is the difference between Graduating and walking in the Commencement Ceremony?

Graduation is the process that verifies all degree requirements have been met, and the degree awarded (i.e., conferred). Students must apply for graduation in their final term. You are not required to participate in the commencement ceremony in order to graduate. Please review the information provided on this page for preparation to graduate.

Apply for Graduation

If you are enrolled in your last semester and plan to graduate in Spring or Fall, visit your my.untdallas.edu student portal and select the Apply for Graduation link to submit your application by the deadline listed on the Academic Calendar.  See instructions for graduation   to apply to graduate.

After you apply for graduation, immediately verify with your academic advisor (undergraduates) or program coordinator (graduates) that you are eligible for graduation.

Graduation Fee: A $50.00 graduation fee will be applied to your student account towards the end of the term. The fee will need to be paid before a diploma or transcript can be mailed to your permanent address.

Graduation emails will be sent to your UNT Dallas email address once you have successfully applied.

Diploma

Degree Awarding Process

Due to processing procedures, the Registrar’s Office has until the last week of the following month after final grades post (see Academic Calendar for final grades deadline) to award candidates degrees. Jostens will ship your diploma within 8-10 weeks after your degree has been awarded. An email will be sent to those who are awarded at the conclusion of the degree awarding process.

Academic Certificates

Certificates will be mailed via postal services by the academic department 6 to 8 weeks after degree requirements are confirmed through the degree awarding process. Contact your academic department for more information.

Undergraduate Honors Candidates

Graduation candidates whose UNT Dallas coursework meets the honor requirements will receive the following honors:

  • 3.500 – 3.699 = Cum Laude
  • 3.700 – 3.899 = Magna Cum Laude
  • 3.900 – 4.000 = Summa Cum Laude

An email will be sent to students who qualify for honors in their graduating term. The final UNT Dallas grade point average will be used to make the determination.

Please note the following policy change:

  • Graduating Semester is Fall 2015 to Summer 2019 = Overall GPA (Cumulative UNTD + Transfer work)
  • Graduating Semester is Fall 2019 or beyond = UNTD GPA (Cumulative UNTD work only)

*Second Bachelor’s and Master’s candidates are not eligible for graduation with honors.

Transcripts

Once a student’s degree has been conferred, the awarded degree program will be reflected on the official transcript. Additionally, an earned double degree, double major, minor(s), concentration(s) and Latin honors (undergraduates only) will appear on the transcript after final review, approval, and degree conferral by the Registrar’s Office. Click here for more information on ordering your official transcript.

Diploma

Diplomas are mailed to candidates approximately 8-10 weeks after your degree has been awarded.

Additional copies of your diploma may be ordered by completing the Diploma Order form and submitting it to Graduation@untdallas.edu for processing. Upon receipt, you will receive a confirmation email. Diplomas are mailed via postal services and can take up to 4-6 weeks for delivery. Please do not contact Jostens directly. Diploma orders are limited to one extra copy in addition to the original.
