The Texas Law Enforcement Peer Network (TLEPN) provides specialized training courses designed to strengthen the mental health, resilience, and peer support capabilities of first responders and those who support them. Our courses are offered at no cost to agencies, delivered on-site by certified TLEPN instructors, and provide Texas Comission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) - certified training hours for attendees.
TLEPN trainings are hosted directly at your department or within your local community, making them easily accessible and tailored to the needs of your personnel. Each course is built to equip participants with practical tools to recognize stress, respond to critical incidents, and support their peers effectively—ultimately improving wellness outcomes across departments and communities.
While our courses are TCOLE-certified, their impact extends far beyond licensed personnel. Clinicians, Chaplains, and Support Staff play a critical role in the care of first responders, yet are often overlooked in traditional training environments. TLEPN courses ensure these professionals gain cultural competency across Law Enforcement, Dispatch, and Corrections, enabling them to better understand the unique challenges faced by those they serve and provide more effective, informed care.
This 2 day, 16 credit hour course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to serve as effective peer supporters within their agencies. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of peer support principles, mental health stigma, trauma and PTSD in law enforcement, and suicide risk identification and prevention.
The course emphasizes real-world application through communication strategies, active listening techniques, and resilience-building practices, preparing participants to confidently support their peers during times of stress or crisis. Attendees will also learn how to navigate confidentiality requirements, connect individuals to vetted mental health resources, and operate within the Texas Law Enforcement Peer Network framework.
By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to serve as trusted peer resources—helping reduce stigma, promote wellness, and strengthen the overall mental health culture within their departments.
This 3 day course is hosted by TLEPN Regional Directors for 24 credit hours and is designed for individuals who have successfully completed the 6400 Peer-to-Peer Certification. It prepares certified peers to become instructors, allowing them to deliver the 6400 course within their own agencies and regions.
By expanding the number of qualified instructors, this course directly contributes to the growth and sustainability of the Peer Network—ensuring more departments have access to trained peers who can provide critical support.
Enrollment in this course is selective. Interested candidates must contact their Regional Director and complete a screening process to ensure the highest quality of instruction and program integrity.
