Your Rights as an Applicant
- To know what financial aid assistance available to you, including all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
- To know the deadlines for submitting applications for applicable financial aid programs and the process required.
- To have all personal and family financial information treated with dignity, sensitivity and confidentiality.
- To know how your financial need is determined, including how cost-of-attendance budgets are developed
- To know what resources are considered in the calculation of your financial need, and how much of your need has been met
- To know UNT Dallas’ Return to Title IV policy
- To know the portion of financial aid you receive that must be repaid and the portion that is grant aid. If the aid is a loan, you have the right to know the interest rate, the total amount that must be repaid, the length of time you have to repay the loan and when repayment is to begin. Students are not obligated to borrower, and have the right to reduce or decline any offer of student loans.
- To request a reconsideration of an award if circumstances change.
- To make an appointment and meet with a member of the financial aid team.
- To know the satisfactory academic progress requirements to keep and maintain access to federal financial aid as a recipient.
Your Responsibilities as an Applicant
In applying for and accepting financial aid, you accept the responsibility to:
- Complete all application forms accurately, and submit them on time, to the proper office.
- Provide correct information. Purposely misreporting information on financial aid forms is a violation of the law and could result in federal criminal charges.
- Submit all additional documentation, verification, corrections and/or new information requested by either the financial aid office or the federal processing agency to which you submitted your application.
- Inform us of any outside scholarships, assistantships, or additional resources that you receive.
- Read, understand, keep copies, and accept full responsibility for all forms that you sign.
- Abide by all agreements you sign.
- Perform the work agreed upon in accepting a Federal Work-Study Program job.
- Report name and school enrollment status changes to the financial aid office and to the lender(s) of any educational loan you receive.
- Report address changes to the registrar's office.
- Contact our office to check on your application status if you do not receive information in a timely manner.
- Read and understand all information provided to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
- Review, understand and comply with the terms and conditions of your financial aid award.
