Visiting Student Applicants

A visiting law student is a student enrolled at one ABA-accredited law school who attends another ABA-accredited law school, typically for a semester or a year, to earn credits that transfer back to their home institution.
In order to be a visiting student at UNT Dallas College of law, applicants must be in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school and have completed at least one full year at their home institution.
You must submit the following as part of your visiting application:
- Completed electronic application, available at LSAC.org.
- $50 non-refundable application fee
- Resume (no longer than three pages)
- Official law school transcripts
- Statement of application outlining reasons for visiting
- Official CAS Report
The following items must be sent directly from your home law school to the Office of Admissions:
- Letter of good academic standing and permission to visit

Transfer Student Applicants
TRANSFER STUDENTS
To be eligible to be considered for admission to the College of Law as a transfer student, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of a minimum 20 semester hours or 30 quarter hours of coursework at an ABA accredited law school. Applications from candidates that do not meet this threshold requirement will not be considered for admission.
- Be in good standing at the law school from which the student is transferring.
- Appear capable of satisfactorily completing the law school’s program of legal education and being admitted to the bar.
- Possess the qualities of an ethical lawyer.
Documents Required for Consideration:
- A completed application for transfer
- A letter from applicant explaining the reasons for applying for transfer
- An official transcript from every law school attended
- A letter from the school last attended, certifying the applicant’s class rank (this requirement will be waived only in cases where the other law school does not calculate a class rank), that the applicant is in good standing and is eligible to continue studies at that school, and that the applicant does not have any character and fitness referrals at the law school last attended.
- (Option) A letter from the school last attended, certifying:
