Fraternity & Sorority Life

fslheader

How to Join

Membership in a fraternity or sorority is considered to be a privilege, and with this privilege, comes responsibility to perform in a manner that exemplifies the ideals of UNT Dallas and the values of the organization that your chapter is chartered and founded upon. Each organization takes new members at different times throughout the year and welcomes all students. We hope you explore all of your options and build a lifelong legacy. Each fraternity or sorority hosts their own recruitment events and has individual requirements for membership. If a student is interested in a specific organization he/she may contact the chapter's president or attend a chapter-sponsored event.

Eligibility Requirements

An individual interested in joining a fraternity or sorority at UNT Dallas must:

  • be enrolled as a full-time student in good standing with the university
  • AND have a minimum of a 2.5 Cumulative GPA*
*some chapters do require a higher GPA

In addition, we ask that all new members complete our Fraternity & Sorority Life (Greek/FSL) 101 Certification.

Each individual chapter also has its own set of requirements, such as dues, letters of recommendation, etc.

5 Tips to Going Greek

  1. Understand this is a lifetime committment. Joining one of these fraternities and sororities will introduce you to lifelong friends and networks. This experience will extend beyond your time spent at UNT Dallas.
  2. Research the chapters. Use chapter and national websites linked on this page to learn more about each chapter.
  3. Get involved with other opportunities and organizations on campus. Join another student organization or seek out leadership opportunities. Many of our fraternity and sorority leaders also lead other organizations like the Student Government Association, serve as a programming chair for the Jax Squad, and conduct undergraduate research through the McNair Scholars Program.
  4. Attend chapter events and get to know the members. Follow them on social media and look out for the chapter flyers throughout campus.
  5. Attend interest meetings and informationals. Some chapters will host open meetings that provide additional information on joining that fraternity or sorority. Other chapters will have closed meetings, where you will be invited. Be sure to attend.

Two Councils. One Community.

Enhance your undergraduate experience at UNT Dallas through fraternities or sororities. These organizations provide opportunities for leadership development, professional networking, community service, lifelong friendships, academic support, cultural awareness, and mentoring. Majority of our leaders also serve in other leadership roles on campus including orientation leaders, student government association, and more!

Frequently Asked Questions

When is intake or recruitment? When can I join?

Most of our chapters will host intake or recruitment once a year or semester. This varies between chapters. For specific chapter questions, please contact the chapter.

The chapter I want to join isn't listed. Can I still join?

If a chapter is not listed, that means it is not chartered at UNT Dallas.
