Drop-In Advising

Drop-In advising is available to students on a first-come, first-served basis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:00PM - 4:00PM. Please note, during these sessions, an available Advisor will offer limited services, such as help with general advising questions.

Please Read

Before your session, please take a moment to review and follow our office etiquette guidelines:

  1. Come prepared with specific questions or topics - These sessions are brief, so focus on one or two key concerns.
  2. Check-in appropriately - Please wait your turn and follow any sign-in procedures.
  3. Bring necessary documents - Have your student ID, course schedules, or forms ready.
  4. Be mindful of time - Other students may be waiting, so please keep your visit brief.
  5. Understand the purpose of drop-ins - These are for quick guidance, not in-depth advising.

Drop-In advising is typically 10-15 minute sessions.

NOTE: We recommend scheduling an appointment for advising matters that involve graduation checks, long-term academic planning, academic probation, or any other topics that may require a more in-depth discussion.

  • Brief questions related to common advising concerns (including adding/dropping classes, signature for forms, advising holds)
  • Assistance with accessing campus services and support resources
  • Course registration support

Drop-In vs. Scheduled Appointments

For quick questions, drop-in advising is great; for more comprehensive, tailored support, scheduled appointments are recommended. Appointments allow Advisors time to prepare for your specific needs such as reviewing your degree progress, discussing course options, or addressing academic concerns. You'll have more time to ask questions and leave with a clear plan to your goals.

Please Read

Before your session, please take a moment to review and follow our office etiquette guidelines:

  1. Arrive on time - If you're late, your time may be shortened or the appointment canceled.
  2. Come prepared - know what you want to discuss and bring relevant materials.
  3. Cancel, if needed - Give at least 24 hours' notice if you can't make it.
  4. Be courteous and respectful - Treat your Advisor and fellow students with respect.
  5. Take notes and follow up - Capture important information and complete any action items discussed.

Scheduled appointments are typically 30 minute sessions.

Scheduling an appointment allows for a more in-depth discussion for advising matters that involve graduation checks, long-term academic planning, academic probation, or any other topics.

In your appointment with your Advisor, you'll focus on long-term academic and career planning. This may include:

  • Course Mapping
  • Degree Requirements
  • Graduation Check
  • Career Exploration
  • New Trailblazer Advising
  • Grad Prep
  • Registration
  • SPARE Meeting
