Letter from the Dean

christine remley headshotI am honored to serve as the Dean of the School of Education at the University of North Texas at Dallas, the number one school in Texas serving first generation college students! I am excited about the leading the team of faculty and staff to build programs to prepare the best teachers for the Southern Dallas region and beyond.

It is imperative, during this time of a teacher shortage, that we engage in rigorous and engaging coursework to best prepare teachers for the 21st century. During a time of concerns about safety in schools, issues of discipline, parental involvement, and social unrest, our teachers will be prepared through fieldwork and high-quality classroom experiences provided by a dedicated group of faculty members.

The success of the School of Education is a team effort. The dedicated faculty and staff embody the vision of providing a pathway to socioeconomic mobility through our values. We are Trailblazers and Life-Long learners who work to be creative, lead with integrity, and value our diversity. This vision and values are more than statements at UNTD, it is who we are every day. We want the very best for all of our students and we will do everything we can to support, encourage, and engage our students to make them great people, great citizens, and great teachers.

We offer small class sizes for a personal touch and classes are taught by faculty members (not graduate or teaching assistants), professors who hold an up to date K-12 teaching certificate in their discipline.

You will learn from Professors who spent years in the K-12 classroom, some who are still in the classroom, and have a dedication and passion to preparing the next generation of teachers.
Our faculty use innovative teaching methods, hands-on learning, and experiential opportunities with our partner school districts.

Our students learn to implement the instructional strategies and pedagogy in the K-12 classroom, under the supervision of master teachers. They gain valuable, practical teaching experience through field work and projects that tackle real-life classroom and school issues.

Please come and visit the UNT Dallas campus and meet me and our wonderful School of Education faculty, staff, and students.  You will see for yourself how UNT Dallas can be a place that you can be a True Trailblazer!

Sincerely,
Christine M. Remley, Ph.D.
Dean, School of Education
